What to Expect when you visit at Camino Church
Who goes to Camino Community Church?
There are people attending, and even leading Camino Community Church, who have major hurts and hang-up’s. In fact, perfect people are not allowed. We’re a community of people who don’t have it all together, but are discovering what it means to find life in Jesus, to follow him fully, to break free from our past, and to walk in victory together.
What if I’m not used to going to church?
We care about you, not what you’re wearing. We don’t care who you’re voting for in the next election or how many tattoos you have. We’re a church full of imperfect, broken people who are coming to know Jesus and serving others together, and regardless of your story, we believe you belong!
If you’ve never been and you’re considering coming, here’s what you should expect…
- Nice people. We LOVE it when someone comes for the first time. But, we don’t always recognize the first-time visitors because so many of the people who come are still fairly new, so feel free to say, “This is my first time” and we’ll guide you in!
- A casual atmosphere. We care about YOU, not what you’re wearing, so feel to come in jeans or whatever is comfortable. Our dress code is simple: wear something. Grab a hot cup of free coffee from our Family Room and sit wherever you’d like! We will NOT single you out publicly or ask you to say anything, and we do NOT expect guests to contribute anything financially.
What will worship services be like?
Camino Church has always been a place where we keep it very simple. It’s relaxed but focused, simple and authentic. We design our worship services to be a place for people to meet with God. Here’s what you can expect during a typical worship gathering:
Prayer
One of our greatest privileges as followers of Jesus is being able to pray directly to God. As we start our morning services, we typically spend a few minutes praying. If there are issues that you would like one our leaders to pray over, we would be honored to serve you in that way. Once or twice a month we ask members of the congregation for prayer requests. It would be our privilege to pray for you. You can leave a send your prayer request to
and be sure that our prayer team will faithfully pray for you.
Praise and Worship with Singing
During the gathering, our worship team will lead us in a number of songs. Our music tends to be lively, including drums and guitars. Our worship leaders seek to balance new, contemporary music with some of the great hymns of our faith. As we sing, the focus is on Jesus! So regardless of what you sound like, feel free to sing aloud with us. Also, please don’t feel obligated to stand if you are unable to. Don’t be surprised when some people raise their hands as a sign of praise while singing, and don’t feel obligated to do so yourself. We create an atmosphere of freedom in our services.
Teaching
The Bible is God’s gift to mankind! It shows us everything we need for life and death. The Bible unwraps the story of God playing out in human history. Every week Pastor Elijah will teach straight from the Bible in a challenging and practical way. We encourage you to bring your Bible with you. If you do not have one, feel free to use (or take) one of ours. We seek to connect the words of the Bible to everyday life.
Giving
If you are our guest, please feel no obligation to give anything financially. We just ask that you place the guest information card in the pine box at the back of the church as you enter. Please feel free to give as God leads you.
What about my kids?
Camino Church is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and are a vital part of every local church and as such we seek to include them in the worship service. Children 0 -3 years old are welcome in our nursery where a trusted volunteer will hep care for them. At the 9 am hour we have a Sunday school class for k – 6th. Also, during the school year, feel free to check out our AWANA program where kids from k – 6th connect with the Bible through stories, games and Bible memorization.
How can I connect with other people?
Home groups provide that connection point. Home groups meet on a weekly basis and connect you with other men and women striving to follow Jesus. Just ask one of the Elders or Pastor Elijah and they will introduce you to our home group leaders.
Can I invite my friends?
Please do. We seek to be a welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are seeking to belong to a community of believers. These answers were okay, but how can I find out more about the church? You can email info@caminochurch.org for more information. Or you can call the church office at 530-644-2828.
